The left wants Americans to believe that conservatives, and in particular former president Donald Trump, are a threat to democracy in this country. But they have now discarded millions of primary election votes for President Joe Biden and anointed, without any competition or debate, Vice President Kamala Harris to be their presidential nominee.
The precedent it sets is striking. The Democrat party now has no guardrails to ensure that the candidate who gets the most votes becomes the nominee. If they believe the candidate chosen by the people has a good chance of losing, the elites can now replace them. That is the opposite of democracy.
At the debate and in every subsequent appearance since then, including last night’s address, Joe Biden has failed to demonstrate he has the cognitive capacity to fulfill the incredibly difficult job of bring president. So who is making the important decisions – particularly those which relate to national security – that confront a White House every day? Putting someone else in charge, not informing the public, and not invoking the 25th Amendment, again, violates basic principles of our democracy.
The left has also spent the last month attacking Project 2025 – which is the conservative movement’s effort to restore the constitutional role of the federal government, particularly the executive branch. The principles of the project are based on the radical notion that the people who work for the government should faithfully execute the laws, respect the limits of their authority, and not pursue their own agendas – especially if they run counter to the elected president. Those who work in the executive branch work for the president, who was elected by the people. Opposition to Project 2025 is opposition to restoring democracy.
So what is the real threat?
