A group of healthcare professionals has some good news for Texas: doctors are coming to the Lone Star State in huge numbers.

Speaking to KLBJ yesterday, Jon Opelt, Executive Director at Texas Alliance for Patient Access, told listeners that the state had licensed over 3,600 doctors in the previous fiscal year, up nearly 70 percent from just ten years ago.

Among the reasons cited for the increased interest in Texas: “the hospitable legal climate…a growing economy which affords them the opportunity to find work…[and] the lack of a state income tax.”
