Texas’ unemployment rate marked a milestone last week.

For December 2012, Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, 6.1 percent, came in well under the U.S. average, 7.8 percent, marking the 72nd consecutive month that it’s been at or below the national average. The last time that the state’s unemployment rate was higher than the national average was in December 2006 (TX, 4.5 percent vs. U.S., 4.4 percent).

It’s also worth noting too that the state’s unemployment rate is (has been) trouncing the national average despite the massive influx of new people moving to Texas. Clearly, the Texas Model works.
