Good Riddance

What to Know: The Texas State Board of Education has scrapped its proposed Social Studies standards, which various groups have warned are biased.

The TPPF Take: Good riddance. The proposed standards contained anti-American and anti-Texan views (mostly by omission).

“There are dozens of examples of anti-American omissions, and going after them has become a whack-a-mole project for Texas parents,” says TPPF’s CEO Greg Sindelar. “Teaching from study guides like this is just one of the reasons that parents are angry and demanding transparency and accountability from public schools.”

Biden’s Border Crisis

What to Know: The sitting Border Patrol Chief testified under oath that President Biden’s border crisis is being caused by his “no consequences” policies on illegal immigration.

The TPPF Take: Under the Biden administration, human traffickers are busier than ever, expediting the flow of migrants across the southern border.

“The president has made it abundantly clear that his administration does not wish to stop illegal immigration, nor does it wish to enable necessary enforcement of the immigration laws that are on the books,” says TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez. “It is factors such as these that drive large numbers of people to surge the border, overwhelming federal and local agencies and—most importantly—risking the lives of millions.”

Running on Empty

What to Know: A California city has become the first in the nation to ban new gas stations, or to allow expansion of existing ones.

The TPPF Take: California’s EV future is bright—until you look at the facts.

“If they ban internal combustion engines, you’re looking at about 2 million new electric vehicles a year and they can’t even handle 600,000,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “You’re looking at about 14% of California’s grid dedicated to electric vehicles when people come home from working. And if all those cars charge at the same time, that’s about one-seventh of what the grid is requiring to operate in those evening hours where things are real tight.”
