$50 Trillion Debt
What to know: U.S. national debt now exceeds $40 trillion or more than $116,500 owed per citizen. A new report now warns that: “US government debt is on a path to reach 50 trillion dollars within the next six years.”
The TPPF take: The nation’s finances are a disaster. We need a new direction.
“It took nearly 192 years for U.S. national debt to surpass the $1 trillion mark. It took another 27 years for it to exceed $10 trillion. It’s expected to breach $50 trillion in six years. That’s simply stunning,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Radical new fiscal rules and restraints are needed now in Washington, D.C.”
Cartel Cattle
What to know: Mexican cattle are again entering the U.S., following the New World Screwworm outbreak. American ports of entry have been closed to Mexican cattle since May 2025.
The TPPF take: The criminal cartels have taken over the Mexican cattle trade.
“Traffickers use falsified paperwork and black-market identification tags to move smuggled animals into legitimate Mexican commerce,” says TPPF’s Ammon Blair. “Once an illegal animal acquires official documents and identification, it becomes far harder to distinguish from cattle that entered the system lawfully. Ranchers who follow the rules are then forced to compete against operators who do not.”
AI Boyfriends
What to know: China has deleted thousands and thousands of AI “boyfriends,” as it cracks down on chatbots.
The TPPF take: China has this much right, at least—AI boyfriends aren’t real boyfriends.
“Over the past decade, much of the public square has migrated online,” says TPPF’s Hannah Bruck. “Conversations, friendships, and communities increasingly exist through screens and platforms. As our social lives have moved into digital spaces, it is perhaps unsurprising that artificial voices have entered those spaces as well. But something important risks being lost in the process.”
