Superintendents’ Super Salaries
What to know: The Texas Education Agency has updated its superintendent salary database, revealing that the highest-paid superintendent pulled in $565,047 per year, excluding benefits. The calculated full FTE pay for 15 superintendents now exceeds the president of the United States’ salary ($400,000) while 579 superintendents bring home more than the Texas governor ($153,750).
The TPPF take: Superintendent salaries are excessive.
“No one is supposed to get rich from public service. And yet, public school superintendents are taking home huge paychecks that put them among the highest earners in the state. These supersized salaries are causing taxes to rise and taking money out of the classroom,” says TPPF’s James Quintero.

Save Our Elections
What to know: Congress has an opportunity to improve the security of our elections with the SAVE Act.
The TPPF take: Congress should pass the SAVE Act.
“There is a massive left-wing attack on the American election system and non-citizen voting is a part of their strategy,” says TPPF’s Byron Fisher. “Liberal elected officials weaken election security, loosen election laws and diminish standards. Their left-wing non-profit counterparts then take advantage of these vulnerabilities and collect voter registrations and harvest ballots to get more liberals elected. The far-left in this country has a vested interest in allowing these loopholes to continue.”

Helping ICE
What to know: A bill before the Texas Legislature would require county sheriffs to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement efforts.
The TPPF take: The Task Force Model empowers every Texas peace officer to act with the same authority as federal immigration agents.
“Think about what this means: No longer will Texas need to beg Washington for enforcement,” says TPPF’s Cullen Neely. “No longer will our safety depend on who sits in the Oval Office. With proper implementation of 287(g) agreements, Texas can build an immigration enforcement system that functions regardless of federal policy shifts.”
