A Little Less Expensive
What to know: President Donald Trump has rolled back some of the Biden administration’s fuel economy standards for cars and trucks.
The TPPF take: Biden had declared that all vehicles would have to achieve get 50.1 miles to the gallon by 2031. Trump rolled that back to 34.5.
“This move will likely make cars cheaper,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Biden’s regulations have been costing both jobs and money, while Trump has always seen that policies that hamstring fossil fuels have crippling side effects that sap our economic strength and even our national security. And, as we know in Texas, fossil fuels are critical when it comes to reliability.”

Good Advice
What to know: Josh Barro is telling Democrats that if they want to win elections, they’ll have to address skyrocketing energy prices in blue states—and rethink their opposition to fossil fuels.
The TPPF take: Those prices are rising because of Democratic policies.
“The Biden-Harris administration’s reckless push for subsidized wind and solar — and California’s before that and since — has destabilized our grid and forced consumers to foot the bill for fortifying unreliable ‘green’ energy with reliable gas power and expensive batteries — the latter of limited utility,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “The fallout? Skyrocketing prices.”

Is It Over?
What to know: The Spectator’s Matt Ridley has declared the “end of the climate cult.”
The TPPF take: One of that cult’s high priests, Bill Gates, has now said he was wrong—climate change isn’t an “existential threat” to humanity.
“The catastrophist narrative is losing its grip, and more people are recognizing, as billionaire Bill Gates now does, what Life:Powered and our allies have been saying for many years,” says TPPF’s Cullen Neely. “Lifting people from poverty protects them from an always-changing climate better than any scheme to reduce carbon emissions.”
