Ban Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying
What to know: Among the items on Governor Abbott’s special session call is a ban on taxpayer-funded lobbying, “including the use of tax dollars to hire lobbyists and payment of tax dollars to associations that lobby the Legislature.”
The TPPF take: Banning taxpayer-funded lobbying is one of the most important items on the special session call.
“Texans often wonder why conservative legislation gets watered down or defeated. Well, the answer is local governments are using our money to hire lobbyists to work against us at the Legislature,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Taxpayer-funded lobbying is the single biggest stumbling block to fully realizing the conservative agenda in Texas. And it’s long past time to ban it.”

Decisive Action
What to know: The U.S. Department of Agriculture has again shut down the southern U.S. border to livestock due to further spread of New World Screwworm flies, which infect cattle and can decimate the industry.
The TPPF take: We can’t rely on Mexico to deal with the screwworm outbreak. If left unchecked, the screwworm could decimate American cattle, horses, and wildlife.
“Once it’s here, eradicating it could take decades and cost billions,” says TPPF’s Melissa Ford. “The last time it happened, our livestock industry took 30 years to bounce back. While Mexico cries foul, it’s time we stop pretending we’re dealing with a friendly, cooperative neighbor. We’re not.”

Shameful
What to know: Deranged leftists used the Hill Country flash flood tragedies as an opportunity to attack President Donald Trump and conservatives.
The TPPF take: The predictable partisans weren’t the worst of it.
“Kudos to Houston Mayor John Whitmire who made sure the Bayou City was totally disassociated from Sade Perkins, who posted an ugly TikTok reel charging that the girl’s camp, where many young people were lost, was racist, and the response to the tragedy was only because the girls were white,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Her sentiments were echoed by Christina Propst, a Houston pediatrician who said Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA and MAGA voters got what they deserved.”
