Because It’s a Scam

What to know: The chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight has sent letters of inquiry to BlackRock and other firms regarding their policies on environmental, social and governance (ESG).

The TPPF take: ESG is a scam.

“I work now to expose how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing threatens our economic prosperity and, instead of improving our environment, enables China’s abysmal human rights and environmental records,” TPPF’s Jason Isaac testified before a U.S. House committee last week. “ESG has infiltrated our economy and been weaponized against essential industries all of us rely on, including, but not limited to, fossil fuels, agriculture, and forestry.”

Not Super Anymore

What to know: California has lost its superpower—a booming population. Now, California and similarly-governed states are losing residents, not gaining them.

The TPPF take: Due in part to California’s heavy regulatory burden, residents pay the third-highest cost of living in the nation.

“With all that tax money California collects, you’d think its residents would enjoy great roads and a strong public education system—but California’s thoroughfares rank the nation’s fourth worst due to a big backlog of deferred maintenance while their K-12 public school results are barely better, ranking 40th of 50,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore.

Building Toward Success

What to know: The left-leaning Texas Observer is convinced that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott will “keep losing” on the parent empowerment issue.

The TPPF take: This is the year for parent empowerment, and Texas GOP leadership is ready to deliver.

“Throughout the last year, we’ve worked hard to advance parent empowerment,” says TPPF’s Mandy Drogin. “But our opponents have worked hard, too—mostly to mislead and fearmonger. The unions, education lobbyists and administrators, whose only goal is to rake more money in to the system, worry that parental empowerment will erode their control and require greater accountability.”
