Blue State Bailout

What to know: Taxpayers could soon be bailing out blue states and cities over mismanaged and underfunded pension liabilities.

The TPPF take: One way pensions have been undermined is through woke “ESG” investing of pension funds.

“The preponderance of high-risk, high-fee EGS investments that elevate the importance of minor or nonexistent investment risks such as climate change as a way to promote a political agenda has drawn attention away from true risk management principles and is a real threat to state pensions.” says TPPF’s Brent Bennett. “The financial security of Texas pensioners and Texas taxpayers depends on keeping political activism and ESG ideology from overtaking Texas pensions.”

Whelp

What to know: A wind farm in Germany is being dismantled to expand a coal mine.

The TPPF take: This is what comes of relying on unreliable renewable energy.

“Germany declared that it would replace fossil fuels to become 100% renewable, but after $500 billion over 20 years, fossil fuels went from supplying 86% to 79% of the country’s energy,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “Now, Germans are paying some of the highest energy bills on the face of the earth.”

Eco-Anxiety

What to know: What’s the latest trend among Generation Z? Eco-anxiety. One psychologist says it “can’t be fixed,” because it’s a “reasonable and predictable response to a dangerous situation.”

The TPPF take: Want to know what’s 100% man-made? Eco-anxiety.

“Instead of using fear over the most extreme weather scenarios, our media, leaders, parents, and teachers should communicate to our young people the complete story of fossil fuels and the benefits of affordable and reliable energy,” says TPPF’s Syd Lucas. “Energy is the key to human flourishing.”
