Cashing In
What to know: Public school superintendents are among the state’s highest-paid government employees. So much so that: “The average 2024-25 salary for a big district superintendent was $372,664,” which nearly exceeds the President of the United States’ annual salary ($400,000).
The TPPF take: Superintendents are cashing in at the expense of others. Namely, students, teachers, and taxpayers.
“A handful of education elites are getting rich from public service, even while student outcomes suffer, teachers struggle, and tax bills explode. And the problem is only getting worse,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “It’s long past time for the Texas Legislature to get involved and establish reasonable compensation limits that ensure our tax dollars go to the classroom, not the bureaucracy.”

Frogs, Lobsters and Unicorns, Oh My!
What to know: “No Kings” protestors showed up last week wearing inflatable animal costumes, NPR reports: “the rallies were most notable for a funhouse Noah’s Ark of frogs, pandas, koalas, woodchucks, sharks and lobsters.”
The TPPF take: What?
“It has never been clear what the ‘No Kings’ message is supposed to mean,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Of all the criticisms that could be hurled at the government, surely ‘No Kings’ is among the most nonsensical. If we had a king, the government would not be shut down, MSNBC would be off the air and Elon Musk would be building a nuclear power plant on the moon.”

Attacks on ICE
What to know: We’re seeing an increase in attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents nationwide.
The TPPF take: Democrats are enabling this violence with their rhetoric that dehumanizes ICE officers.
“Since June, ICE and Border Patrol have endured shootings, arson attempts, and coordinated ambushes,” says TPPF’s Ammon Blair. “In Dallas, a sniper targeted an ICE field office. In suburban Chicago, federal agents were rammed and pinned by cartel-linked drivers before returning fire. Local police en route to assist were told to stand down.”
