China Spies

What to know: Chinese spies are one of the greatest threats to university research, a new report says.

The TPPF take: China and others are making inroads into our universities.

“This is not just about stolen research,” says TPPF’s Kate Bierly. “Foreign money opens the door to propaganda and subtle shifts in curriculum that shape how Texas students think about America and its adversaries. For example, some Texas public schools used Qatari-funded curriculum that erases Israel on a map. By selling ideas that diminish patriotism or soften perceptions of hostile powers, these bad actors gain power that influences the next generation of leaders.”

Live and Let DEI

What to know: A delegate to the Democratic National Convention claims that diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is the “foundation” of the Christian church.

The TPPF take: Democrats just keep getting everything wrong.

“DEI, the phony ‘Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’ ideology that divides Americans into oppressors and the oppressed and pushes hate and division is exactly the opposite of what Christ commands Christians to do, starting with loving your enemies,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester.

Electric Dreams

What to know: GM is warning consumers that big government subsidies on electric vehicles will end on Sept. 30.

The TPPF take: It’s high time that electric vehicles compete on a level playing field.

“These changes don’t spell doom for electric vehicles but rather an opportunity for genuine innovation,” says TPPF’s Cullen Neely. “Without artificial support masking market realities, EV manufacturers will need to solve real problems: reducing battery costs, improving charging infrastructure, and addressing environmental concerns about lithium mining (including the massive amounts of water required for it) and battery recycling.”
