It’s Critical for Children

What to know: Texas schoolkids are heading back to the classroom, but the controversy over critical race theory is far from settled.

The TPPF take: Lawmakers passed a bill banning elements of critical race theory; they are now working to extend that ban more fully.

“Critical race theory is a divisive, Marxist ideology that attributes differences in socioeconomic status, education, health, income, and other disparate impacts solely to one’s skin color,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “Critical race theorists believe America’s institutions and all her societal norms are embedded with racism, which is an abject lie. It is evil and, speaking as a historian, absolutely wrong historically.”

Reconciled to Spending

What to know: The U.S. Senate has approved a “reconciliation” bill that will increase federal spending by $3.5 trillion.

The TPPF take: The bill is a massive mistake.

“The Democrats’ human infrastructure reconciliation bill will greatly expand the role of the federal government in everyone’s lives—for generations to come—and will lead to the combination of economic stagnation and inflation we haven’t seen since the ‘stagflation’ crisis of the 1970s,” says TPPF’s Wes Coopersmith.

It’s Not a Mystery

What to know: President Joe Biden is urging an investigation into “illegal activity” that might be responsible for higher gas prices.

The TPPF take: The culprit is the president’s own energy agenda.

“If the Green New Deal becomes a real deal, whether through Congress or by executive fiat—which is apparently Biden’s preferred strategy—gas shortages and skyrocketing prices at the pump are just the beginning,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “If Biden succeeds, we can kiss energy independence goodbye.”
