Suffer the Children

What to know: Critical race theory is showing up more and more in public school curricula.

The TPPF take: Critical race theory is nothing less than state-sponsored racism.

“When we teach history, we’re teaching our children who they are and where they came from,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “When we teach them civics, we teach them who they can become. If we allow critical race theory to corrupt this, we will teach them the soul-crushing lesson that they’re nothing more than the color of their skin—and that’s all they’ll ever be.”

A Plea for Racial Harmony

What to know: Texas has a bill that would ban the teaching of critical race theory.

The TPPF take: The bill is not only a plea but also a roadmap for racial harmony.

“The great state of Texas stands at a crossroads,” says state Rep. Steve Toth, writing for The Cannon Online. “We can allow into our classrooms the new racism that is critical race theory, or we can recommit ourselves to our Founding creed of race-blind equality.”

Finally

What to know: The Department of Health and Human Services is warning hospitals that they must comply with price transparency rules. If they don’t, HHS could release their names.

The TPPF take: It’s important that HHS enforce the rules on price transparency.

“The American Hospital Association claims that ‘disclosure of privately negotiated rates does nothing to help patients understand what they will actually pay for treatment and will create widespread confusion for them,’” says TPPF’s David Balat. “But what causes confusion is price discrepancies like $11 versus $1,000 for the same blood test. Texans support hospital price transparency—strongly.”
