Critical Racists, In Theory

What to know: Some self-described conservatives teamed with leftists to denounce efforts to ban the teaching of critical race theory in public schools. They specifically cited TPPF.

The TPPF take: Bring it on!

“This is just the beginning of our war against this ill-intentioned, baseless, divisive nonsense about Texas and America,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “Make no mistake—hatred for America is what motivates critical race theory, ‘action civics’ and revisionist history.”

This Sounds Familiar

What to know: Ahead of the Legislature’s Special Session, which starts today, some in the Texas and national media say that election reforms likely to be considered by lawmakers would make voting harder in Texas, particularly for Texans with disabilities and others.

The TPPF take: This is evidence-free argument the left will use to fight election reforms.

“The script is written; opponents of election reform have their talking points ready,” says TPPF’s Chad Ennis. “The truth is that voter fraud exists; whether or not it is “widespread” doesn’t matter one bit. Every illegal vote robs the voice of a legitimate Texas voter. Polls show that Texas voters strongly support voter ID, even for mail-in ballots.”

Dangers of Defunding

What to know: An Austin City Council member warns that increased shootings and murders are the inevitable result of defunding the police.

The TPPF take: Texans—and most Americans—know that defunding the police will only make us less safe.

“Politicians have demonized the police, sometimes in departments that work for them directly,” says TPPF’s Randy Petersen. “This caustic environment will make proactive discretionary patrols less common, meaning less policing pressure on criminals, and this will allow crime rates to continue to rise for the foreseeable future.”
