Cutting Waste is Very Popular

What to know: Harvard polling shows that Americans like President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency and the way it’s cutting out waste, fraud and abuse.

The TPPF take: Americans like what they’re seeing so far.

“Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy like doing tough things and there is nothing more difficult than cutting spending in Washington,” says TPPF’s Brian Phillips. “God speed. This administration will be criticized for not being creatures of Washington and attempting to shake things up. But that’s exactly what Trump wants and the country needs.”

Success Sequence

What to know: The Mississippi Legislature has a bill that would require its schools to teach the “success sequence,” the time-tested formula that says if young people finish high school, work full-time and don’t have children before marriage, they’re far more likely to escape poverty.

The TPPF take: At TPPF, we have launched the Texas Family Success Agenda, and the success sequence plays a big part of that legislative package.

“Strong families build strong societies,” said TPPF’s Greg Sindelar. “The Texas Family Success Agenda will ensure that our Lone Star State fulfills its promise to protect ‘life, liberty, and happiness’ and secure a prosperous foundation for the next generation.”

Electric Vehicles

What to know: More and more U.S. automakers are delaying their electric vehicle production, as demand simply isn’t there.

The TPPF take: Demand for electric vehicles often depends upon state and federal subsidies. Without those subsidies, people just don’t want to switch to electric vehicles.

“Proponents of EVs have falsely pushed the claim that EVs will soon cost less than gas-powered cars. Our new study shows that EVs are still a long way from being competitive without massive subsidies,” says TPPF’s Brent Bennett. “Rolling back these subsidies and burdensome regulations in the U.S. will save consumers money and stop the auto industry from falling off a financial cliff.”
