Detransitioning

What to know: The Texas Children’s Hospital has until the end of the year to establish a “detransition clinic” for former gender modification patients, as part of its settlement with the state of Texas.

The TPPF take: One of those former patients, Soren Aldaco, appears on a new TPPF podcast talking about her life and her struggles. Just last week, Soren won a Texas Supreme Court ruling that allows her lawsuit against former caregivers to proceed.

“Soren’s voice has become a part of the broader legal and cultural conversation about identity, medicine, and the experience of detransitioners,” says TPPF’s Hannah Bruck. “But at its core, the story she tells is a human story, one about adolescence, belonging, and the search for stability and truth.”

Blowing it

What to know: Vineyard Wind, the nation’s first offshore wind power project, is online—though plagued with problems.

The TPPF take: TPPF attorneys have been fighting the Vineyard Wind project for years.

“Commercial fishing families have been using the area to feed Americans for generations,” says TPPF’s Ted Hadzi-Antich. “Finally, the federal government has realized that the project was ill-founded from the beginning. The next step is for the government to order the developer to remove every last bit of equipment installed during construction and bring the area back to a pristine, fishable habitat for the benefit of all Americans.”

Preserving our Constitution

What to know: Congressman Keith Self of Texas has filed a bill to protect the U.S. Constitution from Sharia law.

The TPPF take: The legislation prohibits federal courts and adjudicative bodies from recognizing or enforcing any foreign law, religious code, or custom that conflicts with the Constitution of the United States.

“The Constitution is not one legal system among many,” says TPPF’s Greg Sindelar. “It is the supreme law of the land, and every person in this country deserves its equal protection. This legislation makes that principle enforceable, and TPPF is proud to support it.”
