The TPPF take: The Biden administration has overstepped its bounds in its campaign against gun shops.
“Central to the administration’s policy is a new zeal to revoke licenses for minor clerical errors that don’t result in unauthorized individuals obtaining a firearm,” says TPPF’s Nate Curtisi. “The results have been staggering, as some estimates have FFL revocations up over 500% from recent years. This enforcement policy is the latest of the administration’s many attempts to twist the meaning of old statutes to impose its preferred regulatory agenda.”

Empowering Parents
What to know: Support continues to grow for parent empowerment in Texas—letting parents make the key educational decisions on behalf of their children.
The TPPF take: Support for parent empowerment is strong, even in rural areas.
“Texas politicians, take note: parents aren’t fooled by the false narrative on school choice anymore,” says Texas Tech University’s Professor Alexander Salter. “School choice doesn’t hurt rural districts. If anything, it strengthens them by giving families additional options. Public education dollars should fund students, not systems. It’s time to make school choice a reality here in Texas.”

Invasion
What to know: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has created a firestorm of controversy by contending that the crisis at the border constitutes an invasion, under the U.S. Constitution’s meaning of the term.
The TPPF take: Gov. Abbott’s public declaration of an invasion being underway at the Texas-Mexico border is a step in the right direction — for both Texas and the nation.
“There is an invasion underway, in the full meaning intended by the Constitution. The federal government is unlikely to do much about it,” says TPPF’s Greg Sindelar. “In the face of this federal dereliction of constitutional duty, Texas Gov. Abbott is setting the stage to assert his own.”
