Fighting the Good Fight
What to know: Louisiana has become the 25th state to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review the EPA’s Biden-era changes to national air quality standards.
The TPPF take: TPPF attorneys have filed an amicus brief in support of this challenge.
“Our system rests on the presumption that administrative agencies are going to pay attention to the information that’s out there before making decisions,” says TPPF’s Laura Beth Latimer. “The EPA admitted that it didn’t do that here. And unless the Supreme Court steps in, the effect on the economy could be disastrous.”

Bluebonnet Blooms
What to know: Texas schools using the TEA’s new Bluebonnet curriculum are outpacing their peers, the agency shows.
The TPPF take: The first Bluebonnet Learning results show that better scores at lower costs to taxpayers are possible.
“Teachers and students are showing that they are willing and able to encounter the stories of the Western canon, the traditions of Christianity, the arguments of Greek philosophy, and the civic inheritance of America’s Founding when combined with a focus on phonics, handwriting, grammar, teacher support, and high-quality instructional materials,” says TPPF’s Cameron Abrams. “All that is left is to keep going. Widespread adoption can improve scores for students statewide.”

Medicare for Who?
What to know: Ahead of the midterm elections in November, Democrats are again promising “Medicare-for-All,” their version of socialized medicine.
The TPPF take: False promises can appear more plausible than the status quo.
“Medicare-for-All is a promise politicians cannot keep,” says TPPF’s Dr. Cliff Porter. “Medicare itself is managed by the same corporations that are driving healthcare costs. Costs would continue to rise and, eventually, government-run healthcare would either raise taxes or ration medical care. Or, as in the case of Canada and the UK, they do both. In Canada, medical assisted suicide is now considered a fiscal benefit.”
