What to know: North Carolina lawmakers are considering a 10-year moratorium on offshore wind permits, to ensure that existing laws are observed and that the state’s resources are preserved.
The TPPF take: The Biden administration has rushed through offshore wind projects, without adequate studies.
“The administration has put all their political capital on offshore wind and is breaking all the rules in order to do it,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “The administration’s violation of the Endangered Species Act should be a complete bar to the whole project.”

What to know: Outgoing Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is pleading with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to stop busing illegal immigrants to her “sanctuary city.”
The TPPF take: Mayor Lightfoot says her city can’t handle the few thousand immigrants that have been sent there. What about the hundreds of thousands that have overrun Texas border communities?
“As Gov. Abbott has maintained, it was the primary duty of a governor to do all he can to safeguard state residents against crime and illegal drugs caused by an open border while alleviating the strain on local communities by busing would-be migrants to larger cities better equipped to handle large numbers of people,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore.

Even in Rural Texas
What to know: Some rural Texas lawmakers oppose parent empowerment because they say that wokeness hasn’t infected their schools yet.
The TPPF take: Tell that to parents whose kids have been indoctrinated rather than educated.
“Empowering parents means all parents, including those in public schools, can count on transparency, high-quality options,” says TPPF’s Mandy Drogin. “That means no more jailing parents for speaking up at school board meetings. No more secretly ‘transitioning’ young children, behind their parents’ backs. No more restraining special needs kids. And no more revisionist history that tells blatant lies to our children about Texas or America.”
