Gas Prices and Summer Travel

What to Know: High gas prices are keeping visitors away from national parks such as Yellowstone this summer.

The TPPF Take: High gas prices are due to Biden administration policies.

“President Biden will continue to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin and oil companies, but he needs to man up and accept responsibility,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “He told us he was going to do this: ‘I guarantee you we’re going to end fossil fuel,’ he said. The president knew there would be pain inflicted by forcing the American people to give up the prosperity provided by oil, gas, and coal.”

Humanitarian Crisis

What to Know: The crisis at the southern U.S. border is a humanitarian crisis, a top Texas Department of Public Safety officials says.

The TPPF Take: Conservatives must retake the moral high ground on the issue of illegal immigration.

“Until we decide to truly secure the border, migrants themselves will continue to be just a commodity to the cartels, and inevitably, the collateral damage,” says TPPF’s Greg Sindelar. “They deserve better. They deserve real compassion — and that’s not open borders.”

Offshore Wind

What to Know: A massive new offshore wind project is being planned off of Galveston Island.

The TPPF Take: Developers are selling us impossible promises about offshore wind farms.

“Fishermen say trawling near and around those turbines would be dangerous, if not impossible,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “It’s not just the turbine towers and the massive concrete bases they require — it’s also the miles and miles of transmission lines, which have to be buried and covered over. The federal government itself admits that due to the projects, some commercial fisheries will have to be abandoned.”
