Grifting for the Goal

What to know: California’s healthcare fraud is far more extensive than officials admit, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The TPPF take: California’s healthcare fraud helps to bankroll Democratic politicians, such as LA Mayor Karen Bass.

“The left-wing dominance of the Golden State is sustained by a giant pile of cash, much of it out of sight,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “Billions of dollars extracted from the for-profit conversions of health insurers — assets meant for broad public benefit — bankroll an infrastructure of organizing, media, policy shops, and leadership development that locks in progressive governance.”

That’s Illegal

What to know: Yale’s medical school now openly admits to discriminating against white and Asian students.

The TPPF take: Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs are sanctioned racism.

“The bottom line is that DEI advocates believe all white Americans are racist, whether they know it or not,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Viewing the world through that DEI prism creates a new standard of inequality. Students are either privileged perpetrators of white supremacy or victims of it. That’s what DEI teaches.”

Screens in School

What to know: Some Houston ISD schools are going “low tech,” ditching the digital devices and bringing back books.

The TPPF take: This is a healthy development.

“Now that the COVID-19 dust has settled, we have the data, and it overwhelmingly shows that school-issued devices are worsening student outcomes—and it’s not even close,” says TPPF’s David Dunmoyer. “And to little surprise, the lowest performing students are seeing the worst declines in outcomes, so bad that one of the earliest adopters of EdTech (Sweden) is reversing course and going back to pen and paper.”
