Higher Ed Indoctrination

What to know: The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is suing Texas Tech over rules restricting how controversial subjects are taught. The leftist group claims that the new rules are causing teachers to “self-censor.”

The TPPF take: Texas is working to contain the ideological indoctrination that has contaminated the culture on most university campuses.

“For example, no one will be taught that one race is inherently superior to another,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Have they done that? Absolutely. Theories of white supremacy, and colonization appear in dozens of courses, teaching that students of one race are guilty of crimes and other races are not. Texas Tech Chancellor Brandon Creighton has been fearless in tackling this massive ideological misinformation campaign.”

The Texas Way of Education

What to know: Education expert Robert Pondiscio says: “Texas’s theory of education assumes that public education is obligated to equip every child with the knowledge, language, habits, and skills needed for full and effective participation in America’s civic, cultural, and economic life.”

The TPPF take: This theory is nothing new. Just look at the new social studies curriculum approved by the State Board of Education.

“The SBOE has endorsed a framework with a radical idea: actually teaching history,” says TPPF’s Matthew McCormick. “The new K-8 framework places a greater emphasis on foundational knowledge building in Texas, U.S., and World History. Texas students deserve standards that will teach them all of history, especially the history most important to our society, in a way free from agenda or ideology.”

Drones in War

What to know: Ukrainian drone swarms are overwhelming Russia’s defenses.

The TPPF take: Ukraine’s drone revolution shows Russia is dangerously unprepared. But, so is America.

“Much of our Navy — aircraft carriers and submarines alike — remains vulnerable to massed drone attacks, both by air and sea, when at port,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “Air bases, power grids and other critical infrastructure also sit exposed. Adversaries could launch similar drone swarms from Cuba or Mexico, or from Chinese merchant vessels loitering off our coasts. America must absorb these lessons quickly.”
