Hit Pause
What to know: The Public Utility Commission of Texas voted to postpone consideration of the first segment of the proposed Strategic Transmission Expansion Plan (STEP).
The TPPF take: TPPF filed an amicus brief in favor of this delay, along with 43 state lawmakers, to allow more time to assess this highly consequential proposal.
“Yesterday’s decision by the PUC to defer action on this first section of the 765-kV lines is a step in the right direction. It signals that commissioners are willing to slow down and take a harder look at a project that will cost Texas ratepayers tens of billions of dollars,” said TPPF’s Brent Bennett. “TPPF and Life:Powered will continue pushing for a full pause and an opportunity for the legislature to consider alternative policies before any of these lines are given final approval.”

America, Heck Yeah
What to know: American pride was on display last weekend, when UFC matches were held at the White House.
The TPPF take: In a deep-blue city, thousands descended onto the South Lawn for a Red America event.
“The Navy’s Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds left the crowd in awe as they flew in formation over a crowd covered in the glow of red, white, and blue,” says TPPF’s Cameron Abrams. “Members of the military saluted as fighters were escorted down to the outdoor octagon by first responders and Medal of Honor recipients as live music was played by the United States Marine Band. And after each win, praise was given to God—and the Commander in Chief. Sunday was the worst manifestation of every Bluesky comments section, a liberal-progressive’s nightmare rendered into physical reality.”

Solving Crimes
What to know: Across the country, the number of crimes that are actually solved has fallen to historic lows.
The TPPF take: Americans are looking for answers to violent crime that go beyond rhetoric.
“Families who lose loved ones to violence are not interested in political talking points or tough jargon,” says TPPF’s Rachel Wright. “They want accountability. They want dangerous offenders off the streets. And they want a criminal justice system capable of preventing the next tragedy before it occurs.”
