If We Make it Through December
What to know: Energy prices are beginning to rise, even as winter approaches.
The TPPF take: Biden’s green energy fiasco, not Trump’s reforms, is jacking up your electric bill.
“Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act — only now going into effect, so any electricity price increases to this point aren’t due to the law — flips the script,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “By rescinding President Joe Biden’s vehicle emission standards and fossil fuel crackdowns, it prioritizes affordable, dispatchable energy. Expect more nuclear builds, streamlined pipelines and fewer handouts to Big Green. This won’t spike prices — it’ll stabilize them by restoring reliable supply.”

Not In My Backyard
What to know: Cities throughout Texas are still fighting a new law that makes it easier to build homes—part of an effort to bring housing prices down.
The TPPF take: That new law, SB 840, will make homes more affordable.
“There are ways for the state government to intervene on behalf of the people to remove overburdensome regulations that have contributed to an artificial scarcity of homes,” says TPPF’s John Bonura. “The purpose of SB 840 is to allow by right mixed-use residential and commercial zoning, which would make converting empty office spaces into housing units much easier. This, combined with other measures, would add to the housing supply and aid in bringing prices down to a more affordable range for consumers.”

Political Violence
What to know: Even the New York Times is lamenting the rise in political violence, including the shootings of two National Guard members last week.
The TPPF take: In an era of rising political violence, the late Charlie Kirk demonstrated a better way.
“What usually happens in America after heart-breaking political violence like this is the country is on good behavior for a week or so before politicians on both sides go back to stoking up their supporters, insisting that their political opponents will bring tyranny and an end to civilization as we know it,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Charlie believed talking to people who disagree with you is the only path to real change. He bet his life on it.”
