It’s Coming

Online Safety for Kids

What to know: Even the Boston Herald says we must loosen social media’s grip on our nation’s teenagers.

The TPPF take: Texas has enacted laws that will protect kids online.

“The passage of HB 18 marks a crucial step in the right direction to protect our most precious population from overwhelming harms and stop the commodification of children by Big Tech,” says TPPF’s Greg Sindelar. “As children are experiencing unprecedented levels of anxiety, depression, self-harm, sex trafficking, and suicide online, the passage of HB 18 is a momentous victory in the bid to put the safety and well-being of children over the pecuniary interests of Big Tech.”

I Bless the Rains

What to know: Africa is turning its back on the climate-obsessed West.

The TPPF take: As this article pointed out, “The developing world needs rapid growth, not lectures on sustainability.” Fossil fuels can provide that.

“The International Energy Agency (IEA) finds that there were an expected 20 million more people without electricity globally, totaling 775 million people, in 2022,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “Many of these people are in sub-Saharan Africa, who are facing increasing hardship due to rising costs for food, fuel and other necessities. Forcing some of the population to depend on energy sources that don’t work ultimately pushes them into hardship and poverty when those methods fail.”
