Mask Mandates

What to Know: The Centers for Disease Control is defending its mask mandates on public transportation (including airplanes and airports), saying those weren’t an abuse of power.

The TPPF Take: On the contrary, the CDC never had the authority to issue such mandates—as TPPF attorneys proved in court.

“The federal district judge correctly held that that CDC transportation mask mandate was unlawful and violated the Administrative Procedure Act,” says TPPF’s Robert Henneke. “The Court’s order vacates the CDC Mask Mandate, which will be effective for all persons nationwide as soon as final judgment is entered by the Clerk of the Court.”

The Failure of Medicaid

What to Know: California’s Medicaid program (Medi-Cal) is failing the state; a new study shows that some cancer patients on Medi-Cal “have poorer outcomes than those with no insurance at all.”

The TPPF Take: Remember this when there’s another push to expand Medicaid in Texas.

“Medicaid doesn’t make people healthier,” notes TPPF’s David Balat. “Medicaid inhibits access to care to those for whom it was intended, hurts hospitals, and creates crowded emergency rooms.”

Critical Race Theory

What to Know: A number of blue states spent federal pandemic relief funds to promote critical race theory, a new report says.

The TPPF Take: Texas put the brakes on CRT last year, but we’ll need to ensure the laws are enforced.

“Despite the passage of anti-CRT legislation in Texas, Tennessee, and a few other states, CRT and its close cousin, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), are most certainly being taught in schools through books, articles and teaching materials,” says TPPF’s Carol Swain. “Behind the curriculum are activist authors committed to advancing progressive racial and sexual agendas in the classroom, twisting and adding to factual information until it’s a far cry from the truth.”
