Millions Got Away

What to know: Newly uncovered U.S. Customs and Border Protection data reveals that there were over 1.6 million recorded “gotaways” at the border from FY 2021 through FY 2023. For comparison, there were 1.4 million total gotaways recorded in the decade before that.

The TPPF take: Those figures only represent the number of illegal aliens who were spotted and evaded capture. Who knows how many more avoided detection when entering the country illegally?

“By the time President Biden completes four years in office, the illegal immigrant population in America will have increased by 4 million, a stunning 28% increase,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “One in every 85 people in the U.S. will be an illegal immigrant who arrived under Biden’s term.”

And The Squatters?

What to know: On Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Local Government met to discuss the squatting problem in Texas. Some disturbing stories came to light.

The TPPF take: Squatters in Texas are taking advantage of loose laws and absent officials to abuse property owners.

“Squatters don’t have rights—property owners have rights,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Next session, policymakers should aspire to pass the strongest anti-squatter legislation in the nation. We must do more to protect homeowners, preserve public safety, and punish criminal activity.”

Rooting Out DEI

What to know: The Texas Senate Committee on Education held a hearing on Tuesday to monitor the implementation of the new ban on DEI programs at public universities in Texas, after multiple reports surfaced suggesting university officials were not taking the ban seriously.

The TPPF take: Universities have acted as gatekeeping medieval guilds, with “wrongthink” punished and intellectual diversity all but banned.

“You can run a straight line from DEI programs to the anti-Israel protests and illegal encampments popping up at universities across the country,” says TPPF’s Brian Phillips. “The protesters recognize the ‘oppressor and the oppressed’ lens through which DEI forces everyone. And the faculty are all too eager to activate the generation they’ve brainwashed into being unwitting soldiers for their neo-Marxist causes.”
