Momentum

What to know: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott spoke at an event with TPPF at the Texas Capitol recently, and said “the time for school choice is now in the great state of Texas.”

The TPPF take: It’s time to empower Texas parents with school choice.

“We support parent empowerment because we believe—in line with United States law—that parents are the first and primary educators of their children,” says TPPF’s Michael Barba. “Parents have a direct and personal responsibility for their children’s good.”

Sanctuary Shenanigans

What to know: Massachusetts, a “Sanctuary State,” will no longer guarantee housing to illegal immigrants.

The TPPF take: So-called “Sanctuary Cities” and states are learning that now, every town is a border town. And Massachusetts has dealt with just a fraction of what Texas deals with on a daily basis.

“The border crisis is a humanitarian crisis, and the current administration has only made it worse,” says TPPF’s Ken Oliver. “The crisis at our border is no longer just at our border. Criminal organizations are taking advantage of the Biden administration’s stand-down at the border to lure more and more victims, and the effects are felt everywhere in America.”

This Wasn’t Supposed to Happen

What to know:  Climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained by police during a protest in London on Tuesday.

The TPPF take:  But wait, Greta is the one who told us in 2018 that “climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.” That was more than five years ago.

“No matter how shrill the climate cartel cries that the end is near, the American public just isn’t willing to sacrifice the benefits of affordable, reliable energy — which only fossil fuels can provide,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “They see through the disinformation the climate cartel is spreading. Not only is the human race nowhere near the brink of extinction, but our lives and our environment are better than ever before.”
