No Amnesty

What to Know: Many of those who fought hard to keep schools closed say we should just forgive and forget (especially in the voting booths).

The TPPF Take: No, there will be no amnesty for the damage done to our kids and our economy.

“During the height of the pandemic, sweeping emergency powers gave rise to misgovernment on a grand scale, particularly at the local level,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Texans would not be well-served from a policy perspective either if they simply moved on without learning from the mistakes of the past. And from those lessons should come meaningful reform so that such abuse does not so easily reoccur.”

Border Security

What to Know: With just days to go before midterm elections, Democrats aren’t talking about the crisis at the border.

The TPPF Take: More than 2.76 million immigrants entered the U.S. illegally last fiscal year.

“Does this all time, historic, record-breaking number surprise you? It shouldn’t,” says TPPF’s Rodney Scott. “While campaigning in Iowa in 2019, then-presidential candidate Joe Biden told the world that he thought the U.S could easily assimilate two million or more new immigrants. He also told the world that if elected president, he would relax border security and create a more welcoming environment.”

Election Integrity

What to Know: Tuesday’s elections in Harris County will be monitored by both parties, the state and now even the feds.

The TPPF Take: Harris County regularly bungles elections.

“The 2020 election, marred by the bending and breaking of election law to accommodate fears over COVID-19, saw Harris County fumble the chain of custody for 14 polling locations and their electronic mobile ballot boxes,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “The number of votes in question totals 184,999.”
