No Longer in Charge
What to know: The Texas Supreme Court has signaled that it plans to end the American Bar Association’s authority to accredit law schools.
The TPPF take: The ABA has strayed far from its role as an impartial arbiter of educational quality.
“The ABA’s recent controversies—condemning the Trump administration’s battles with judges and law firms, and imposing diversity mandates (now paused until August 2026)—suggest a politicization that our Founders would find antithetical to the principles of meritocracy,” says TPPF’s Tom Lindsay. “When the ABA’s standards reflect ideological agendas rather than universal merit, they risk corrupting the rational foundation of legal education.”

Good Riddance
What to know: President Donald Trump is laying off even more Department of Education employees as the government shutdown drags on.
The TPPF take: This follows the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts last summer.
“The Department of Education was created by former President Jimmy Carter as a favor to the National Education Association, so it’s hard to figure how anyone thought that another president wouldn’t be able to fire employees or even shut it down,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester.

Poland’s Promise
What to know: Poland has rejected the European Union’s plan for mass migration.
The TPPF take: Poland’s political shift is rooted in a crisis that should sound familiar to Americans: weaponized mass migration.
“Poland faced the same chaos America has experienced under former President Joe Biden—hundreds, sometimes thousands, of daily border encounters, with migrants increasingly turning violent against guards,” says TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez. “The Polish people responded with a resounding message: Poland First.”
