No More Woke
What to know: U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says the U.S. military is done with wokeness. “Not anymore.”
The TPPF take: TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez served in the Marines and applauds the restoration of the military’s mission.
“For too long, the service of our men and women in uniform has been distracted by initiatives that drew attention away from the battlefield tradecraft that truly keeps Americans safe,” says Selene. “Secretary Hegseth’s speech was a public recommitment to the reality that strength deters aggression, that competence wins wars, and that peace is secured most reliably by being able and willing to fight.”

Expensive Lunches
What to know: Members of the Austin City Council spent thousands of taxpayer dollars on expensive lunches and other items, a report finds.
The TPPF take: Austin officials are asking taxpayers to approve a huge 20% property tax hike to pay for the city’s spending.
“Some Austin City Council members believe their election entitles them to a free lunch,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “The Austin City Council can frequently be spotted wasting money big time, but now we know they are also careless with taxpayer dollars behind the scenes.”

Our Robot Overlords
What to know: Self-driving cars are safer than human drivers, studies say.
The TPPF take: Just as with all other technology, self-driving vehicles are a tool that can induce positive and negative outcomes.
“As a first principle, and for the sake of innovation broadly, it is crucial that Texas continue to hold the line on the regulation-heavy instincts of states like California and Illinois,” says TPPF’s David Dunmoyer. “With responsible guardrails in place and the ingredients for an innovative hotspot, Texas will continue to lead the nation as the exemplar of responsible technology that seeks to serve humanity, and not the other way around.”
