On Purpose

What to know: What caused the crisis at the southern U.S. border? President Joe Biden’s policies. And that’s why his latest executive order won’t fix it.

The TPPF take: The Biden administration wants Americans to believe the border is secure. It isn’t.

“Four years into the worst national security crisis the U.S. has faced since 9/11, the president now hints that he actually can do something to secure the border, only he refuses to admit that it is his policies that got us where we are today,” says TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez. “Immediately upon taking office, President Biden undid every measure on border security taken by former President Donald Trump. And under his policies, we have broken records for illegal entries every year.”

Reptilian Tactics

What to know: The federal government has declared the dunes sagebrush lizard endangered. This designation could have a huge impact on oil and gas production in the Permian Basin.

The TPPF take: The dunes sagebrush lizard is just fine.

“Bureaucrats have been trying since 1982 to use the lizard to slow down oil and gas production, but it hasn’t worked,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “The lizard is not extinct and I am betting the people of the Permian can produce energy and keep on keeping the little lizard safe.”

Land Grab

What to know: What’s behind China’s current effort to purchase land in the U.S.—particularly farmland?

The TPPF take: China’s land purchases are a national security threat.

“One concerning trend is the proximity of Chinese-owned farmland and food production properties to sensitive U.S. military installations,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “This positioning provides opportunities for direct observation of military facilities and enhances electronic eavesdropping capabilities, as well as potentially serving as clandestine beachheads for Chinese espionage.”
