Only You Can Prevent Alarmism

What to know: Those Canadian wildfires? Yeah, there’s no “climate crisis” happening there now. It’s simply bad forest management.

The TPPF take: California led the way on abandoning forest management. Canada is just catching up, and seeing the same effects.

“The bottom line of wildfires is cruelly simple: What grows must be harvested or it will eventually burn, either under intentional, controlled circumstances or unintentionally,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “As Occam’s Razor says, the simplest answer is usually the right one. And the simplest explanation for the Canadian wildfires is not climate change.”

Border Crisis

What to know: TPPF’s Melissa Ford Maldonado testified before the House Homeland Security subcommittee last week.

The TPPF take: The border is under the de facto control of the Mexican criminal cartels.

“Today, the flow of humans being smuggled, opioids, and poisonous illegal narcotics are driven by Mexican drug cartels,” Melissa told members of Congress. “These drug cartels are ruthless, strategic, highly organized money-making entities that continue to evolve in strength and sophistication. They are running a billion-dollar slave trade, and are richer, more armed, and bolder than ever. This is leading to a lot of suffering at the border and beyond the border as well.”

The Truth at Last

What to know: In Kansas, a school board member told a parent to move out of the state if he didn’t like progressive policies such as diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and critical race theory (in its “social and emotional learning” (SEL) guise.

The TPPF take: At least they’re clear in their intentions. Parents don’t matter to them; only the progressive agenda does.

“Simply stated, SEL uses the power of emotional manipulation to advance a critical theory-based agenda,” says TPPF’s Carol Swain. “The question for Texas, like other states that have made efforts to remove critical-theory-based concepts from K-12 classrooms, is how to close and lock the door — to prevent social justice warriors and activist teachers from using SEL materials and their own values to evade the intent of ‘prohibited concepts’ legislation.”
