Operation Lone Star
What to know: President-elect Donald Trump plans to use Texas’ border security efforts as a model for fixing the border.
The TPPF take: Texas will continue to play a big role in securing our nation’s border.
“Amid the greatest national security crisis of our time, Texas has been at the forefront of studying and interdicting the threat posed at our border,” says TPPF’s Greg Sindelar. “Now, we can lead the way in helping a new, strong federal government strengthen our security apparatus and end cartel influence in America.”

What a Waste
What to know: A recent investigation into the Houston Housing Authority revealed public officials engaged in massive waste, fraud, and abuse. In fact, investigators uncovered improper spending totaling more than $500,000, including: “More than $140,000…spent on travel, dining and extracurricular activities.”
The TPPF take: Government waste is rampant. We need change.
“The Houston Housing Authority’s exploitation of Texas taxpayers reminds us that local government waste, fraud, and abuse are rampant. It’s a major reason why property tax bills continue to skyrocket,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Instances like this should prompt the Texas Legislature to pass bold reforms, like local spending limits, balanced budget requirements, and mandatory efficiency audits.”

School Choice
What to know: Texas may finally empower Texas parents with school choice, Gov. Greg Abbott says.
The TPPF take: It’s time to enact school choice, starting here in Texas.
“School choice is the civil rights movement of our time,” says TPPF’s Richard Johnson. “Few things matter more to parents than ensuring their children have a high-quality education that equips them with the tools and experiences necessary to succeed. It is time for Texas to give poor and working class families the assistance they need to send their children to the school of their choice.”
