Over the River

What to Know: U.S. gas prices will break a 10-year-old record for Thanksgiving travel. According to GasBuddy, fuel prices will reach their “highest seasonal level ever for the weekend.”

The TPPF Take: President Biden once lamented he doesn’t “have a magic wand” to make fuel prices lower.

“But there is a magic wand to fix skyrocketing energy prices and inflation, or, rather, a magic word,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “It’s ‘reverse’—reverse the disastrous anti-energy policies that are making global energy shortages far worse. The more scarce oil is, the more expensive it is. It follows that any laws, taxes, fees, or regulations from the federal government that make producing, refining, and distributing oil more difficult also make it more expensive for consumers.”

A Mandate for Texas

What to Know: Gov. Greg Abbott was re-elected with a strong majority and a mandate to enact conservative policies on issues ranging from property tax relief to parent empowerment.

The TPPF Take: Gov. Abbott can help make Texas a leader in freeing Texas families to pursue their dreams.

“He’s been very clear and very bold in what he expects or what he wants to see done, and I think voters responded to that, and so I think we are very hopeful that we see some movement on both of those items,” says TPPF’s Greg Sindelar.

That’s Not Compassion

What to Know: Even the Washington Post acknowledges that President Joe Biden’s immigration policies—which are meant to be “more compassionate” than President Donald Trump’s policies—are failing.

The TPPF Take: This is just the façade of compassion.

“The left only sees the people they are encouraging to enter the U.S. illegally as political pawns,” says TPPF’s Matt Eagan. “If those on the left cared, they wouldn’t be encouraging women and children to make a trek through countries where the drug cartels have asserted total control, one in three women are sexually assaulted or raped, and more deaths are occurring than ever before.”
