Politicking on the Public Dime
What to know: In the lead-up to the November election, Frisco ISD has been accused of “spend[ing] tens of thousands on bond promotion,” including as much as $12,789 on Community Impact stickers. The district is seeking voter-approval for both a $1.08 billion bond and a big tax increase.
The TPPF take: More and more school districts appear to be politicking on the public dime.
“School district electioneering is a big and growing problem that demands a legislative response. We should not tolerate governments politicking on the public dime,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Strong reforms are needed to punish bad actors, strengthen transparency requirements, and restore public trust.”

Terror as a Weapon
What to know: Texas has declared the violent Tren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organization.
The TPPF take: Fixing the border starts with identifying criminal cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
“We have been unable to counter this threat because thus far, we have insisted on viewing the problem only as an immigration issue,” says TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez. “But when we look at it through the lens of security, we recognize Mexican cartels for what they are: foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs). Further, we recognize Mexico as what it has become: a failing state, burdened by a tyrannical government that not only sponsors terrorism but also shields cartels as they undermine the rule of law and threaten regional stability.”

Bold Strategy
What to know: Writing for MSNBC, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says more Democrats should engage with Fox News, just as Vice President Kamala Harris did last week.
The TPPF take: Harris’ appearance on Fox was a progressive admission that Fox, unlike MSNBC or CNN, is America’s most watched cable news network.
“Harris refused to acknowledge the millions of illegal aliens who have flooded the border on her watch and she refused to specifically apologize for the deaths of three young women Baier questioned her about who were killed by illegal aliens,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “Instead, she blamed most everything on Donald Trump, who she mentioned 113 times in the interview.”
