Protecting America and Americans
What to know: President Donald Trump has sent the National Guard into Los Angeles as rioting continues.
The TPPF take: TPPF’s Chuck DeVore was a member of the California National Guard during the 1992 Rodney King riots.
“Today’s riots are fueled by open-borders radicals and their enablers, not anger over police using excessive force,” DeVore explains. “ICE is enforcing federal law, rounding up illegal immigrant criminals and those with final deportation orders. And the danger, so far, is more focused on federal law enforcement officers, not private property per se.”

That’s A Downgrade
What to know: Standard & Poor’s has downgraded insurer USAA from “AA+” to “AA.”
The TPPF take: USAA went woke, and now it is going broke.
“Once a low-cost haven for service members, veterans, and their families, USAA’s troubles suggest a company veering off course, prioritizing ideological agendas over its foundational mission,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “USAA’s drift from its military heritage mirrors a broader cultural shift within the organization, one that prioritizes left-wing activism over the needs of its members.”

Winning
What to know: President Donald Trump is slowly racking up some wins in court, as judges dismiss Democratic legal challenges to his policies.
The TPPF take: President Abraham Lincoln’s opposition to the Dred Scott decision can serve as a model for Trump.
“Lincoln didn’t call for rebellion. While the judiciary was not beyond criticism, neither was it to be discarded,” says TPPF’s Tom Lindsay. “Instead, he called on voters to elect leaders who would appoint judges loyal to the Constitution’s moral foundations and warned that unchecked judicial authority would erode individual liberty and democratic governance. Today, that mindset could aid President Donald Trump, who has seen key parts of his agenda—especially on immigration enforcement, environmental policy, and administrative reform—stymied by federal court rulings.”
