Reaching for a Better Future
What to know: President Donald Trump has boosted funding for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
The TPPF take: The Left hates to admit that Trump’s policies help HBCUs.
“Too often, good news in the Black community is downplayed or ignored when it does not fit a preferred political narrative,” says TPPF’s Richard Johnson. “But facts are facts. The claim that the Department of Education would dismantle our HBCUs is not supported by evidence. That narrative may have stirred fear and division, but the reality is that the future looks bright and is driven by renewed commitment and historic levels of investment.”

This Isn’t Law Enforcement
What to know: President Trump has designated the cartels from Mexico and Venezuela that smuggle drugs and humans into the U.S. as “unlawful combatants.”
The TPPF take: It’s about time we recognize that the cartels aren’t simply a law enforcement problem.
“For decades, Washington treated cartel violence as a crime — a problem for prosecutors, not generals,” says TPPF’s Ammon Blair. “Indictments were filed, assets seized, and sanctions imposed. But the cartels fought a different kind of war, one that combined terror, intelligence, and territorial control. Calling it crime guaranteed defeat. We refused to define the cartels as belligerents — and fought the wrong fight.”

Cool, Clear Water
What to know: Texas voters will decide on a constitutional amendment in November that will determine how much is spent on water infrastructure in the future.
The TPPF take: Water is critical to ensure a prosperous future for Texas.
“Proposition 4, which was created by the passage of House Joint Resolution 7, will be on the November ballot to give voters a choice to create a reliable source of money for water projects,” says TPPF’s Larry French. “If passed, Proposition 4 would annually dedicate $1 billion for 20 years from sales tax revenue to fund water projects.”
