Right to Repair
What to know: The Right to Repair movement is gaining steam, Wired magazine reports, because people want to be able to fix their own things, without voiding warranties or incurring other penalties.
The TPPF take: Consumer limits to the Right to Repair are robbing Americans.
“This assault on our property rights and agency is at the core of the national push for legislation that secures the Right to Repair our personal property and explains why a half dozen states have already codified such a law,” says TPPF’s David Dunmoyer. “It’s almost unthinkable that we would let corporations tell us how and when we can use our property. And it is certainly un-American to capitulate to forces that seek to rob us of our dignity.”

Wait, What?
What to know: U.S. automakers have sent a letter to President-elect Trump, asking that the Biden administration’s electric vehicle mandates stay in place: “Please require us to sell electric vehicles.”
The TPPF take: EV makers need the mandates—because not enough Americans want their plug-in cars.
“No matter how many subsidies and regulations the federal government pushes onto the market, consumers prefer gasoline’s convenience and reliability,” says TPPF’s Carson Clayton. “They are also waking up to the fact that EVs have not delivered on their highly anticipated environmental promise.”

DEI is DOA
What to know: President-elect Trump has pledged to dismantle federal “diversity, equity and inclusion” (DEI) efforts on Day One.
The TPPF take: DEI has harmed the fabric of our society.
“Viewing the world through the DEI ideology requires pronouncing virtually everything that humans have accomplished since time began as the result of white supremacy, racism or colonialism,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “It rejects the principles of individual freedom and autonomy, science, research, advancement, inquiry and discovery. Their worldview is a dark place where everything humans value is proclaimed to be bad and everything human decency condemns as bad is said to be good.”
