SAVE America

What to know: Democrats continue to misrepresent the SAVE Act, which would ensure election integrity with safeguards such as voter ID.

The TPPF take: There’s more than one way to SAVE America.

“Protecting our sovereignty is more than just funding ICE and border security,” says TPPF’s Byron Fisher. “We must protect our voter rolls and provide tools and resources for states to keep non-citizens from registering to vote. While it is disappointing that no Senate Democrat will commit to support the SAVE America Act, the White House and Senate still have tools available to advance these changes. There is more than one way to SAVE America, and we should be using every tool at our disposal to do so.”

Teacher Shortage

What to know: Texas, like other states, is facing a teacher shortage.

The TPPF take: Part of problem is how we educate teachers.

“American schools of education have long been infiltrated by the Left’s ‘long march through the institutions’ and serve as havens for neo-Marxist ideas,” says TPPF’s Kate Bierly. “States can improve the quality of teacher preparation and boost teacher effectiveness by promoting alternative teacher training programs that are already proving their worth.”

The Numbers Matter

What to know: The Fifth Circuit court heard arguments in a case brought by TPPF attorneys that challenges Congress’ actions, when votes were taken with no quorum present.

The TPPF take: The Constitution requires a quorum (majority) of House members be physically present for the U.S. House of Representatives to conduct legislative business.

“Two days before Christmas 2022, the House voted on a 4,000-page, $2 trillion omnibus appropriations bill,” says TPPF’s Chance Weldon. “Less than half of the Representatives were present, with the rest voting by proxy. Of those present, 88 Representatives voted yea and 113 voted nay. Still, the legislation passed, and the President signed it into law. This was not merely a procedural error; it goes to the heart of our Representatives’ job duties.”
