Securing the Border

What to know: President Donald Trump is being taken to court over his efforts to employ the U.S. military to help secure the border and our chaotic cities.

The TPPF take: Trump’s move is long overdue.

“Securing the border is about more than stemming illegal entrance into America — it also encompasses interdicting deadly drugs and preventing or catching criminals, terrorists and hostile agents from entering, as well,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “The problem is worse than most Americans realize. Evidence shows that corrupt Mexican military and law enforcement officials are aiding the cartels on U.S. soil.”

Higher Education

What to know: The left is worried about President Trump’s “crackdown” on higher education.

The TPPF take: Texas is leading the way on higher education reform.

“Senate Bill 17 banned DEI offices on every state university campus in one fell swoop. It mandated the closing of every DEI office on campus and outlawed any mandatory DEI training,” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “It also ended the requirement that anyone be forced to sign a statement pledging adherence to DEI before they could be considered for a job (that was actually a thing).”

DEI is also in our Public Schools

What to know:  A federal judge has upheld Alabama’s new law banning diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies in the state’s public schools.

The TPPF take: Publicly funded racism is still racism.

“Texans overwhelmingly do not want their schools, their universities, their state agencies, and their local governments participating in anti-American race essentialism, much less funding it through their tax dollars,” says TPPF’s Steve Rowe. “It’s time to throw racism (state-sponsored or otherwise) in the trash bin of history.”
