Sign the Pledge Today!

What to Know: Most Texans want their tax dollars spent on police and potholes, not pressuring politicians. Poll after poll confirms as much.

The TPPF Take: Let your voice be heard! Tell the Texas Legislature that it’s time to stop sending tax dollars to Austin lobbyists. Sign the pledge today!

“Almost every Texan agrees: It’s wrong to force taxpayers to fund lobbyists whose only job is to advocate for higher taxes, more spending, and bigger government at the Texas Capitol. It’s unethical and a misuse of public money,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Now is the time for the public to let their voices be heard. Every Texan should sign the pledge to stop tax dollars from going to lobbyists today!”

Both Free and Fair

What to know: Don’t look now, but May municipal and school elections are just around the corner.

The TPPF take: It’s time for the Texas Legislature to ensure that all Texas elections are free and fair.

“When people do not have confidence in our electoral institutions—when political legitimacy is questioned—liberty is threatened,” says state Rep. Briscoe Cain, writing a guest piece for The Cannon Online. “Therefore, it is incumbent upon the Texas Legislature this session to ensure that elections, the bedrock of our Republic, are free, fair, and secure.”

Psst: They Don’t Believe It Themselves

What to know: A teachers union president who has helped keep Berkeley schools closed was caught dropping his own daughter off at an in-person preschool.

The TPPF take: We must get all schools open again. School closures have led to spikes in mental health issues for many students.

“But there’s much we can do now to help our kids to brighter futures,” says TPPF’s Emily Sass. “It begins by recognizing that schools aren’t ‘super-spreaders.’ It’s vital to ensure that schools are open and stay open, safely, so students who are ready can access instruction. Next, we should allow remote learning for those students who prefer it. We must give families more choices, not fewer.”
