Special Independence Day Edition!

What to Know: On Monday, we celebrate the 246th anniversary of our nation’s founding.

The TPPF Take: Our nation is truly the greatest and most free nation in history.

“It comes back to rights,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “The founders believed in rights that didn’t require the labor or taxes of others to be fulfilled. We have a right to free speech, to practice of our religion, and to bear arms. We don’t have the right to expect that taxpayer funds will be used to provide us a computer and Internet access, a place to worship, or a rifle.”

Human Tragedy

What to Know: This week, we learned that 53 migrants died in the trailer of a semi near San Antonio.

The TPPF Take: This tragedy was caused by irresponsible border policies from the Biden administration.

“Some of the worse consequences of a lawless Texas-Mexico border are epitomized in the tragedy that has just occurred with the deaths of 53 migrants packed into an overheated tractor-trailer on the outskirts of San Antonio,” says TPPF’s Ken Oliver. “When the United States systematically fails to account for and effectively regulate the entry of migrants who cross the southwest border into our country, tragedies like this one, the deadliest human smuggling incident in American history, will invariably occur.”

Pause for the Rich

What to Know: The president could soon decide whether he’ll extend the student loan repayment “pause.”

The TPPF Take: The student loan repayment pause has proven to be welfare for the wealthy.

“The student loan repayment pause is perversely targeted to provide welfare for the already or soon-to-be rich,” says TPPF’s Andrew Gillen. “Welfare for the rich is a misallocation of taxpayer dollars, so it is well past time for the Biden administration to end the student loan repayment pause.”
