Stealing the Show
What to know: President Donald Trump “stole the show” in Davos for the World Economic Forum last week, the Associated Press reports.
The TPPF take: The highlight of Davos was Trump’s announcement on a deal with Greenland.
“In the end, Trump gets the ‘W,’” says TPPF’s Sherry Sylvester. “He controlled the entire narrative and came away with the framework of a deal on Greenland and a template for a new Board of Peace. All the European leaders have to show for the week is telling the folks back home that they gave the Canadian Prime Minister a standing ovation.”

Unsafe Sanctuaries
What to know: Trump says he’ll cut off funds for “sanctuary” states that refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement.
The TPPF take: Those failed “sanctuary” policies are now being tried in Texas.
“Federal immigration authorities recently conducted targeted enforcement operations in my area,” says TPPF’s Selene Rodriguez. “These were lawful, focused actions carried out by Homeland Security professionals doing the job Congress—and the American people—have repeatedly mandated them to do. Rather than standing firmly behind the Rule of Law, our local government and law enforcement agencies rushed to distance themselves.”

Keeping Warm
What to know: The Wall Street Journal unashamedly says, “Thank Heaven for Coal Power in the Cold.”
The TPPF take: American coal is making a comeback, after more than a decade of harmful federal policies.
“For more than a century, coal has been a reliable energy source making our modern way of life possible,” says Texas Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian, writing in The Cannon Online. “It wasn’t until radical environmentalists created the Net Zero fantasy that the United States and the rest of the developed world abandoned coal production and coal-fired electric generation.”
