Sunshine is the Best Disinfectant
What to know: The Trump administration has warned two San Antonio hospitals that they are failing to provide transparent pricing information for patients and insurers on their websites.
The TPPF take: Health care price transparency is a big part of TPPF’s Legislative Action Agenda for the upcoming legislative session.
“True health care costs are routinely hidden from patients, access is obscured by complex rules and opaque pricing, and financial decision-making has been removed from individuals and families,” says TPPF’s Dr. Cliff Porter. “The result is a system that discourages competition, rewards inefficiency, and leaves Texans paying more for less.”

Transmission Lines
What to know: Texas landowners are challenging plans for high-voltage transmission lines that would cut through Central and West Texas.
The TPPF take: Those transmission lines will solve none of the problems with the Texas grid.
“Other plans exist that can increase the supply of reliable generation, reduce the cost to consumers, and lessen the impact of new infrastructure projects,” says TPPF’s Carson Clayton. “Policymakers should pause implementation of the plan and consider alternatives to minimize the cost and impact.”

California Elections
What to know: Don’t expect California’s election results any time soon, officials say.
The TPPF take: “Election Month” is California’s delay-by-design.
“Why are voters repeatedly being told they must choose between accurate elections and timely election results?” asks TPPF’s Josh Findlay. “California built a process that can take a month after Election Day to resolve. Voters should stop accepting it as normal.”
