That’s Not How History Works

What to know: The Texas State Board of Education approved new History materials for grades 3-8 in September. Leftist groups objected, saying they focus too much on Texas and the U.S.

The TPPF take: The Texas Council for Social Studies opposes the new curriculum.

“TXCSS has a long record of promoting left-wing ideas,” says TPPF’s Matthew McCormick. “The TXCSS journal, The Social Studies Texan, includes articles such as ‘How to Teach about Undocumented Immigration Using Children’s Books’ and ‘Building Social and Emotional Intelligence through Social Studies Instruction,’ which urge teachers to ‘reach beyond their content knowledge.’”

What Makes us American

What to know: Judge Andrew Arthur of the Center for Immigration Studies, asking what it means to be an American.

The TPPF take: That debate—what it means to be an American—is at the very heart of our current conflicts.

“We don’t face threats just to our political or partisan preferences, but to our nation’s very existence,” says TPPF’s Joshua Treviño. “For America, this means the fight is not Right versus Left, but Americans versus un-Americans. This is useful as a polemic, and also happens to be wholly descriptive. We are the ones who hold public debates. They are the ones who shoot the debaters.”

Dis Array? Or Dat Array?

What to know: The left is now saying that tomorrow’s “No Kings” rallies across the nation have “Republicans in disarray.”

The TPPF take: Marxist tantrums are nothing new.

“While the narrative is that these protests and the violence are driven by anger over Trump and the deportations, the truth of the matter lies deeper—at the very foundation of progressivism,” says TPPF’s Austin Prochko. “Marxists have always been spoiled brats throwing a temper when they don’t get their way.”
