The EPA is Coming for Your Car

What to know: The EPA has adopted strict new “tailpipe” rules that could regulate your car out of existence.

The TPPF take:  Americans don’t want—and can’t afford—new electric vehicles, no matter what the Biden administration does to stimulate demand.

“No matter how many subsidies and regulations the federal government pushes onto the market, consumers prefer gasoline’s convenience and reliability,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “They are also waking up to the fact that EVs have not delivered on their highly anticipated environmental promise.”

Hospital Price Transparency

What to know: A new report shows that too many hospitals, including hospitals in Texas, are failing to comply with new hospital price transparency laws.

The TPPF take: Health care price transparency is good for patients—and providers.

“Most Americans want hospitals to show their prices,” says TPPF’s Tanner Aliff. “According to a recent Harvard-Harris poll, nearly 90% are in favor of an initiative by the government to mandate disclosure of negotiated prices by hospitals, insurers, and other medical professionals.”

A Win for Georgia Parents

What to know: The Georgia Legislature has passed school choice legislation, and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is expected to sign the bill into law soon.

The TPPF take: It’s time to let Texas parents make the important decisions on their children’s educations, as well.

“Texans are speaking very loudly and very clearly, and they want school choice,” says TPPF’s Mandy Drogin. “Gov. Abbott should be commended for his hard work on behalf of parents and parent empowerment.”
