The Rent is Too Damn High

What to know: A new report from Harvard University suggests that: “Half of U.S. tenants can’t afford to pay their rent.” This sad state of affairs may soon get even worse given the deteriorating economic climate.

The TPPF take: Many people are barely hanging on. Big Government is to blame.

“The affordability crisis gripping the nation today is the result of too much government. Too much government spending. Too much government printing. Too much government control and interference,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “If we, as a nation, are to weather this storm successfully, then we must get back to free-markets, limited government, and sound money.”

A Republic… If You Can Keep It

What to know: States that attempt to bar former President Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot are risking “election chaos,” CNN acknowledges.

The TPPF take: If courts and administrators are not careful, challenges to President Trump’s ballot eligibility could lead to a new round of chaos that benefits the Left.

“While Republican and Democrat scholars and pundits alike worry about the unknown legal and political impact of unprecedented efforts to take former President Donald Trump off the ballot in Colorado and Maine, it would be wise to remember that last-minute uncertainty over ballot eligibility could also cause chaos to election administrators and disrupt voter behavior,” says TPPF’s Josh Findlay.

Empowering Dictators

What to know: The Biden administration is lifting sanctions on Venezuela, even as migration from that country increases.

The TPPF take: President Biden is appeasing bad actors in a bid to retain his presidency.

“Collaborating with cruel regimes not only empowers oppressive dictatorships but also jeopardizes stability, security, and prosperity in these nations, impacting U.S. border security,” says TPPF’s Melissa Ford. “The consequence of entrenching criminal regimes is a surge in illegal immigration, increased drug, arms, and human trafficking, increased humanitarian abuses, and, tragically, unnecessary loss of life at the U.S.-Mexico border.”
