“For generations, small agricultural operations provided food, jobs and economic stability for rural Texas communities,” says TPPF’s Roy Maynard. “Today, many ranchers say that the market is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain. Agricultural census data show a gradual decline in family-owned farms, while barriers to entry continue to rise for new producers.”

Gotta Have a Home
What to know: Illegal immigration under the Biden administration was likely responsible for about 30 percent of the increase in housing prices in recent years, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
The TPPF take: It’s simple math. Millions more people means millions fewer affordable homes.
“Housing markets are governed by the same economic principles as every other market,” says TPPF’s John Bonura. “When millions of additional people enter the United States over a short period of time, each of them needs a place to live. Whether they rent an apartment, share housing with others, or purchase a home, the result is the same: increased demand. When supply cannot expand quickly enough, prices rise for everyone.”
